Activated carbon neutralizes odors and traps harmful chemicals and gases in its pores to provide relief from offensive odors and bacteria contained. It works by absorbing molecules in it’s proximity, similar to the way a sponge absorbs water on contact.
When the odor molecules come into contact with the activated carbon, they are trapped within the pores, where it stays locked and naturalized. Absorption capacity and efficiency depends on the product and care, but usually will last for 6 to 9 months, after which it can be easily Re-Activated.
